Purity Ring‘s debut LP ‘Shrines’ has been out on 4AD/Last Gang for sometime now and it’s a bit of a shame we didn’t get to it sooner. A heavyweight contender for 2013’s Polaris prize, the album touches all the pressure points that make a music fan like myself instantly turn to jelly. Otherworldly beats that rumble the trunk of your car, ethereal vocals and lyrics that both confuse and placate at the same time. It’s almost hard to review because us bloggers run out of synonyms for ‘the best thing I’ve heard in a while’.
