Rational Youth – Saturdays In Silesia

Here we are again with another (regrettably) rare installment of our moribund Friday feature, Friday Classic Dark, in which we clamber aboard the way back machine and bask in the reflected glow of the under-loved Canadian electronic music of yesteryear.  Today’s would be icons of our collective cultural imagination are Montreal New Wavers Rational Youth.  They were formed in Montreal in 1981 by Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn and released this particular single in 1982.  The track is also included on their spectacularly titled first LP Cold War Night Life, which I had the good fortune to find at the excellent Grasshopper Records yesterday.  It really is some top drawer spooky new wave, perfect for the paranoid Cold War obsessive in your life.
