We’ve long been fans of London, Ontario producer/songwriter Johnny Sherritt, aka Wolf Saga. He’s perhaps best-known for his very clever and danceable synthpop covers, like his take on The Strokes. But he’s been producing a ton of great original material as well, and in December released his lengthiest record to date, the Waves EP.
A step up from anything he’s done so far, Waves sees Saga taking his characteristically crisp, melodic synthpop to a more fully realized and epic place. There’s immaculate synth and drum programming, some extremely catchy melodies, and a keen sense of drama, especially during the record’s various extended breakdowns. A fun, emotional, inspirational EP, Waves marks Saga’s arrival as one of the finest young electronic pop producers in Ontario.
Waves is available now as a free download from Bandcamp.
