Joanne Pollock – Carnival

We’ve been waiting for this news for some time: Toronto bedroom pop explorer Joanne Pollock is releasing her first full-length album! We were immense fans of her 2015 EP Optimist, one of our very favourite records of that year. “Carnival,” the first song to emerge from the forthcoming Stranger (out June 16) sees Pollock getting contemplative over an intoxicatingly complex beat. It’s a highly intelligent experimental pop tune that feels effortless, despite charting a course that follows no familiar rules or comfortable forms. We can’t wait to hear what the whole album has in store!

Stranger is available for pre-order now. If you’re in Toronto, she’s performing at Wavelength’s “Sex & Death” showcase this Thursday at the Monarch.
