Debut: Warm Myth – GonnaGun

Posted on May 24th, by arp2600 in Debut

Warm Myth is a new band from Casey Mecija of Ohbijou and Keiran Adams from ALX and Bonjay. Superstardom aside, they make excellent slowed down electro music. Casey has a beautiful voice that lends itself well to this style of music and we can’t wait to hear more from them.

ALX – I Will Love You More

Oh my god! Guys! Allie Hughes from Toronto has rebranded as synth-pop band ALX! Oh my god! It’s good! She is one of the best vocalists in the city, and will be debuting her project at The Drake on March 15th.

Listen to who her band consists of: Maddy Wilde from Moon King and Spiral Beach, Kelly McMichael from Rouge and Kieran Adams from Bonjay. Basically, it’s a Toronto synth-pop super group. We’re damn, damn excited for this one, especially after watching that creepy video.

You can download the single for free on ALX’s bandcamp.

Guide to CMW Dark Electro Pop – Saturday Edition

Posted on March 12th, by arp2600 in Live

This is the final installment of our Canadian Music (Week) Fest recommendation series. Thanks for reading!

The absolute best place to be tonight is El Mocambo for the YYZ Records Showcase. Sure, Silent Shout’s own Digits will be playing the event (9 pm), but good music is good music regardless of conflict of interest. How can you avoid a bill that includes Piper Davis (11 pm) MADRID (midnight), Kidstreet (1 am), and Humans (2 am)?

If you are in the mood to hop around, though, by all means try to see Bonjay at The Mod Club at 12:15 am, followed by DVAS at 2:30 am.

Your last stop tonight should be The Garrison to see OPOPO, the friendliest electro-rockers in Toronto. They take the stage at 3 am. Directly before them is a mysterious “Special Guest,” which usually means a big-name out-of-towner doing a surprise appearance. Don’t quote us on that, though.

There is a bunch more awesome stuff happening throughout the weekend, and we hope that you found our recommendations helpful.
