Here’s the first Divine Fits single. Technically these guys are 1/3rd Canadian, courtesy of Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs fame, but they’re also really good and they provide us with the opportunity for the output of indie rock royalty, Britt Daniel, to appear on these pages. The full album, A Thing Called Divine Fits is out on August 28th.
So, due to some massive oversight, we were not asked to be judges in this year’s Polaris Prize. That, or the ballot was lost in the mail. We need to ensure that Canadian electro music is properly represented, so in an effort to influence the judges’ decision, we have made our top five albums eligible to win this year.
Handsome Furs – Sound Kaptial
Handsome Furs – Memories of the Future
Tenderness – The Axe is Ready at the Tree
Tenderness – We Lay Our Broken World in Sorrow at Your Feet
And the winner is:
15. Young Galaxy – Shapeshifting
14. Grimes/D’eon – Darkbloom
13. Kidstreet – Fuh Yeah
12. Azari & III
11. Homo Duplex EP 03
10. Resorts EP
9. Visage Musique Compilation 01
8. Monroeville Music Centre – Le Progrès EP
7. Ghibli – Pythia
6. Chevalier Avant Garde – Heterotopias
5. Handsome Furs – Sound Kapital

There is something genuinely adorable about the Montreal-based husband and wife team. Their latest album, Sound Kapital, is the band’s synthiest to date, their first where all the songs were written on synth. It’s also, so far, the most sexual album of the year. Just watch the video (NSFW, below)! Look at the album art (also NSFW). Can something be adorable and raunchy at the same time? Handsome Furs: adorably raunchy. Raunchily adorable?
Guys, they’re just so in love.
Since starting this blog, we’ve been waiting for the opportunity to post something from Handsome Furs. Not only have the husband and wife duo shared this gem of a song, but they announced that their new album will be coming out shortly! A synth only album! Don’t get me wrong, Dan Boeckner is an excellent guitar player, but we love some good ol’ fashioned knob tweaking too much to not be really excited about this.
