Remix: Khotin x Shout Out Out Out Out

Shout Out Out Out – Wayward Satellite (Khotin Remix)

Dylan Khotin-Foote recently announced that he’s not going to be working on Happy Trendy any more. A shame, as we loved that project, but people change. He’s going in a more housey direction now, working as Khotin. Here’s a remix of Shout Out Out Out Out that he just did. The melancholy pad synths still retain that Happy Trendy vibe. Shout Out and Teen Daze also recently did a split 12″ that you might want to hear where they remix each other…it’s all streaming over at Exclaim.

Pile of Best Albums: Happy Trendy – Old Friends

Posted on February 2nd, by digits in Pile of Best Albums

Happy Trendy – Skinny Ghost
Happy Trendy – YWGY
Happy Trendy – Old Friends

With a cover featuring the hardest-to-please reviewer at Breakfast at Sulimays, Edmonton’s Happy Trendy (aka Dylan Khotin-Foote aka Kumon Plaza), has released our first favourite album of the year, and we will use it to form the base of this year’s Pile. Happy Trendy is definitely operating in the tradition of the amazing Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, but in the best possible way and without being derivative – in fact I can’t think of anyone who has done it better. If melancholic soft-textured synths with catchy wistful pop hooks are your bag, Happy Trendy has got you covered. Excellent for winter mopery.

This album is free, by the way, he’s giving it away on Bandcamp, but due to a limited number of free giveaways, he recommends you grab it from this Mediafire link that he’s made available.
