You might remember Kool Music from having released one of the best music videos of last year. Well he’s back with an equally captivating work: super-trippy dragons cavorting in the forest in a beautiful haze. The video was directed by Julia Ngeow and “Green Mountain Beauty” is available on Kool’s split with Sean Nicholas Savage from Arbutus here.
Majical Cloudz – Kisses Like A Girl (Sean Nicholas Savage cover)
Mozart’s Sister – Standing In A Line (Sean Nicholas Savage cover)
Everyone in the Canadian music community is aware of Sean Nicholas Savage‘s reputation as an incredible songwriter. He’s released ten-odd albums, each of which contains countless treasures, so it’s no surprise to see such luminaries as Doldrums, Majical Cloudz, Mac DeMarco, Pat Jordache, and so many more covering his tunes on this brand new compilation, available for free from Arbutus Records. Sean is set to release an important full-length in 2013, one that he’s been working on for over a year (a long time for him).
Silent Shout is presenting Sean’s performance at Double Double Land in Toronto on Feb 15, with performances from AGOR of Blue Hawaii and Sexy Merlin, and Cadence Weapon and Doldrums DJing.
This post also appeared on Berlin’s No Fear of Pop.

It’s been a minute since we last heard from Arbutus behind-the-scenes man Jasper aka Kool Music. The video he put out back in February was one of the coolest things we’ve seen all year. He’s got a new video for us, in a totally different style, very trippy and cool – and has a lovely section that almost sounds like he’s sampling dial tones. Could he be potentially headed in a Monroeville direction in the future?
Loving this video and track from Kool Music, aka Jasper Arbutus. You can grab his tape Living Alone in the City as a free download here.
41. The Hood Internet – Kaputting It Up (Raekwon vs Destroyer)
35. Sally Dige – Immaculate Deception – website
Arbutus shipping chief Jasper records music under the moniker Kool Music, and gives it all away for free. He’s already released one really great album earlier this year, Kool Music 6. Now he’s got a second out, Kool Music 5, just dig that cool dark instrumental jam above. Go here to grab the whole thing. Actually, the albums may be called Running Back to Everyone and Sharon When The Beat Drops, respectively. I have no idea and I like it that way.
