Marie Davidson has always been impossibly cool, but her latest single “Naive to the Bone” is even more impossible than usual. A dark, cold-as-ice sequenced synth over spare, hard-hitting drums features Davidson’s characteristically detached voice making observations and cutting commentary above the beat. Marie already is one of 2016’s unquestioned breakout stars with her duo Essaie Pas‘s masterful first album – but now she’s got a whole solo record to sink your teeth into as well. Adieux Au Dancefloor is available now from Cititrax.
At the very beginning of the year, Montreal’s DKMD (aka Marie Davidson and David Kristian) put out a much anticipated record, the Sacrificio EP, which collects their remarkable set of singles from 2013 and 2014 and gives them the vinyl release they’ve always (bloodcurdlingly) cried out for. Horror disco of the finest quality, the three epics contained within make for truly sinister listening, appropriate for slinking through dark streets and creeping around corners. DKMD, we’re watching you.
Available now on 12″ from Giallo Disco Records.
