MP3: Slim Twig – Clerical Collar
The always delightful and accommodating people, at the always wonderful in every way Pleasance Records, have given us the go ahead to debut the second track from Slim Twig‘s forthcoming album, A Hound at The Hem. Unsurprisingly it’s an excellent track from an album that already seems poised to make music critics say things like “important” and “album of the year.” Especially the part where the harpsichord comes in. The record is out on November 6th on Calico Corp and Pleasance Records and its going to blow your mind.
MP3: Slim Twig – Heavy Splendour

Slim Twig‘s a busy man this year. He’s already put out one record, Sof’ Sike, but now there’s another new album, A Hound at the Hem being released on Toronto’s Pleasence Records. Featuring string arrangements from Owen Pallett, the album is a complete narrative and if this first song is any indication it’s going to be amazing. We’re looking forward to hearing it when it drops on Nov. 6.

MP3: Born Ruffians, Slim Twig, Young Galaxy Cover Bowie

Born Ruffians – Five Years (David Bowie cover)
Slim Twig – It Ain’t Easy (David Bowie cover)
Young Galaxy – Hang On To Yourself (David Bowie cover)
Yamantaka // Sonic Titan – John, I’m Only Dancing (David Bowie cover)
So Paper Bag released a compilation of Bowie covers, and though we’ve already written about it, it’s definitely worth a second post. Here are some more highlights from the compilation, courtesy of Born Ruffians, Slim Twig, Young Galaxy, and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan. If you missed it, you should also check out the Austra/CFCF and Woodhands covers we posted last week.
Dirty Beaches, Slim Twig, U.S. Girls – The Statement

New split LP from artists that are 3/4 within Silent Shout’s geographic scope (Ela Orleans is from Glasgow) on its way! Based on these tracks, we couldn’t be any more excited. Each artist will contribute about ten minutes of music. We’re especially loving the U.S. Girls track, but Slim Twig‘s and Dirty Beaches‘ also impress in a big way. The Statement is out August 10 and is already available for pre-order. Via No Fear of Pop.
